This story gives a very important massage. It's true that no gain without pain.

If one is rewarded for hard work, how can one also believe that prayer accomplishes anything? Even in this religious cartoon, the character has to cut the cross to size. God had nothing to do with it. The people would have been better off if they had build a bridge across the chasm for all to use, rather than waste the wood on crosses.

Typical Christians leave the poor dude behind.

I love the message of this post.

"Hah! Poor sap, using his own effort to try and make himself more comfortable rather than continue on in utter drudgery without good reason! That'll show him not to think for himself or change things that he doesn't like!"

We should all apply this to everything we do in life.

And yet the message is false. It is entirely possible to profit without hard work (win the lottery, for example) and it is entirely possible to work hard and get no reward (as the slaves in many cultures did).

Hard work does not necessarily lead to reward, nor does reward necessarily come from hard work.

Why the fuck did I just get a Christian post in my stumble? Piece of shit.

If only they realized that the grass isn't greener on the other side of the chasm. Typical christians, not stopping for a moment to help those who got the short straw in life. They obviously did not need those bits of wood sticking off to the sides, they could easily have given him their excess wealth, been none the poorer for it, and helped someone in need. But naturally they are selfish and kept it all to themselves. How very christian of them.

There is an even better alternative too. Together they would have pooled their resources, as they had a large quantity of lumber, and created a permanent bridge across the chasm for others to use. But such forethought, empathy, and self-sacrifice is not to be seen. Long live the selfish christians!
